To succeed in today's challenging world of healthcare, medical staff leaders need knowledge and skills they never learned in medical training.
In response to this need, the Greeley Medical Staff Institute has created the Medical Staff Leadership Certification Program to provide physician leaders the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in medical staff leadership roles. Physicians who complete the educational requirements for medical staff leadership certification and pass the certifying exam receive the designation CMSL, standing for Certified Medical Staff Leader.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Medical Staff Leadership Certification Program is to support physician success, hospital success, and high quality of care to the communities they serve by establishing criteria for competent hospital medical staff leadership and certifying those physicians who demonstrate the requisite knowledge and skills to meet these criteria.
Objectives of Certification
The objectives of the Medical Staff Leadership Certification Program are to:
- Support the effectiveness of healthcare to our communities through promoting standards of competency for physicians serving in medical staff leadership positions;
- Promote both physician success and hospital success by helping physicians who serve in medical staff leadership positions define and obtain the requisite knowledge and skills to fulfill their responsibilities effectively;
- Give special recognition to those physicians who demonstrate mastery of an acquired body of knowledge and skills in medical staff leadership through successful completion of the certification process; and
- Identify for medical staff members and hospitals individuals with substantive knowledge and skills in medical staff leadership.
