Susan R. Diaz, CPCS, CPMSM, is a Consultant with Greeley. She brings over 25 years of diversified experience in medical staff services, credentialing and privileging, academic affairs, and healthcare administration across hospitals, academic medical centers, and managed care organizations. Susan is a recognized expert in developing high-performing medical staff operations, implementing enterprise credentialing systems, and leading process improvement initiatives to ensure compliance, efficiency, and patient safety.
Before joining Greeley, Susan served as the Director of Medical Staff at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she led the integration of 11 hospital sites into a unified Enterprise Medical Staff Services Department serving over 12,000 practitioners. She directed standardized credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance processes across multiple governing bodies. Susan also played a pivotal role in coordinating regulatory and accreditation readiness and led the hospital’s credentialing response during the COVID-19 pandemic—overseeing the rapid onboarding and privileging of more than 1,000 temporary healthcare professionals.
Previously, Susan served as Director of Medical Staff Services and Academic Affairs at SBH Health System, where she established end-to-end electronic credentialing and privileging systems, developed faculty appointment processes for the CUNY School of Medicine, and supported medical education and physician engagement programs. Earlier in her career, she held leadership and credentialing management roles at Montefiore Medical Center and Catholic Health System of Long Island, building expertise in policy development, regulatory compliance, and staff training.
Susan has been a dedicated leader within the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS), serving as President in 2019 and holding multiple board and committee roles, including Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee and Editor of Synergy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Personalized Education for Professionals (CPEP).
A frequent presenter and author, Susan has shared her expertise at numerous NAMSS national and state-level conferences, addressing topics such as medical staff professionalism, leadership, burnout, and credentialing best practices. Her publications include “Breaking the Silence Surrounding MSP Burnout” (Gateway, 2024), “Medical Staff Leadership Through a Pandemic” (HCPro, 2020), and “A Call to Action” (Synergy, 2020).
Susan holds certifications from the National Association of Medical Staff Services as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).
