Lunch & Learn: Joint Commission’s New Requirement: Using REAL and SOGI data to advance Equitable Health Outcomes

Thursday, January 19 | 12:00 - 12:45 PM

The Chartis Just Health Collective is focused on creating a liberated healthcare system free of bias, discrimination, and disparities—resulting in equitable health for all. Join us for this informative session based on the January 1, 2023, new and revised requirements to reduce healthcare disparities that apply to organizations in the Joint Commission’s ambulatory health care, behavioral health care and human services, critical access hospital, and hospital accreditation programs.

In response, organizations must prepare to meet six elements of performance, including the ability to collect sociodemographic data and leverage this data to identify and mitigate disparities.

These new standards will accelerate change but should be considered foundational and a first step in elevating health equity as a strategic priority. Leading organizations are prepared to meet these requirements but are also undertaking a more holistic approach to equity-informed organizational transformation.

During this time together, we will explore best practices that set you up for success now and in the future, including:

  • Review of the six new Joint Commission elements of performance

  • Discuss strategies and tactical actions to meet these elements of performance

  • Learn health equity and belonging best practices from leading organizations that go beyond check the box performance
