Ann Smedley, BSN, RN-BC, HACP-CMS, is a Senior Consultant in Performance Transformation with more than 35 years of nursing and leadership experience supporting acute care hospitals and behavioral health facilities. She provides comprehensive hospital consulting services across all departments, partnering with staff and leadership on regulatory compliance, clinical services, education, and survey readiness. Ann conducts hospital regulatory rehearsal surveys and focused hospital and healthcare facility assessments.
Ann has served as the onsite lead consultant for multiple State-Directed Plans of Correction and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Systems Improvement Agreements, guiding psychiatric hospitals to successful outcomes. She leads a team of behavioral health specialists who deliver regulatory compliance guidance through quality and performance improvement programs.
Ann brings extensive experience across diverse nursing practice settings, with a deep psychiatric nursing background spanning all populations and care environments, complemented by significant operational and leadership expertise. This breadth of experience enables her to support successful accreditation outcomes and sustain ongoing compliance with regulatory standards. She also offers specialized expertise in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
Before joining the firm, Ann served in chief nursing executive roles, providing strategic and operational oversight of nursing services, including clinical and financial management, policy and procedure development, care process design, clinical education, patient safety, and quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Ann earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Rochester Community College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She is board certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is certified as a Healthcare Accreditation Certified Professional (HACP-CMS) through the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality. Ann is also an approved suicide prevention provider through the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
