Sandy Garcia is an Associate Partner in Clinical Transformation. She brings 37 years of healthcare experience. Serving as a Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer for several acute care facilities, her experience ranges from large tertiary academic facilities to small rural hospitals. She has also managed several contracts and delivery of work for the Health & Human Services Department with emphasis on quality and accreditation preparation and recovery for Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, Nursing Care Centers, and Hospital programs. Sandy served as a consultant and then a surveyor for The Joint Commission Enterprise. Sandy is an expert in regulatory requirements at both the state and federal levels.
Prior to joining Chartis, Sandy led a team of consultants performing Clinical Operations, Regulatory Readiness and Recovery and Behavioral Health Services. Recently Sandy led a large academic tertiary inner city hospital system in the Midwest in preparation for multiple surveys and interventions with numerous recovery opportunities with CMS, OSHA, The Joint Commission, CAP, and a hospital violation with the “No Surprise Act.” Sandy, in collaboration with small and large healthcare facilities, built behavioral health clinics, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) and successful inpatient behavioral health units.
Sandy is an accomplished speaker with state APIC associations focusing on Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilization. She recently spoke at several state Rural Hospital Association Conferences and the National Rural Hospital Association Conference on “Suicide, The Missed Diagnosis in Rural America.”
Sandy received her Master of Business Administration from North Park College, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Elmhurst College and a Diploma in Nursing from St. Mary’s School of Nursing. Sandy is a Licensed Long Term Care Administrator in the state of South Carolina, a Certified Joint Commission Professional, a Certified Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma from Villanova University and a Certified Change Agent from The Joint Commission.
